Durward has been in the investment industry for more than 52 years, first in Dallas and subsequently in Corpus Christi with Investors Diversified Services, Inc. He received the professional designation of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) in 1981 and went on to earn the designation of Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) in 1985. Durward holds a B.B.A. degree from Texas A&M and is active with the Nueces County A&M Club, and was named “Aggie of the Year” in 2009.He has served as a Board Member and President of the Corpus Christi Association of Life Underwriters and is a member of the Financial Planning Association. Durward also served as President of the Optimist Club of Downtown Corpus Christi and went on to serve as Lieutenant Governor of the South Texas District of Optimist International. He has been an Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 3 in Corpus Christi and is an Eagle Scout. He is active in First United Methodist Church, having served as Chairman of the Finance Committee and is currently Vice-Chairman of the Church Council.
